Dumpster sizes and prices at a glance
Dumpster sizes are measured in cubic yards of volume. Picture a washing machine box: that is about one cubic yard. A 20-yard container holds roughly twenty of them, or six to eight pickup truck beds heaped level.
| Size | Size of the box | Holds about | Weight | Typical price* |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10-yard | 12 ft long x 7.5 ft wide x 3.5 ft tall | 3 to 4 pickup loads | 1 ton included | $325 to $425 |
| 15-yard | 14 ft long x 7.5 ft wide x 4.5 ft tall | 5 pickup loads | 1.5 tons included | $375 to $475 |
| 20-yard | 22 ft long x 7.5 ft wide x 4 ft tall | 6 to 8 pickup loads | 2 tons included | $425 to $575 |
| 30-yard | 22 ft long x 7.5 ft wide x 6 ft tall | 9 to 12 pickup loads | 3 tons included | $525 to $700 |
| 40-yard | 22 ft long x 7.5 ft wide x 8 ft tall | 12 to 16 pickup loads | 4 tons included | $625 to $825 |
*Typical range for a standard 7-day rental inside Brazos County. Final quote confirmed by phone once we know your address, your material and how much it weighs.
Prices are typical ranges for a College Station or Bryan address and a standard 7-day rental. They are ranges because every address is different: how far it is from Twin Oaks Landfill, whether the truck can get in, and what you are throwing. We confirm the final number on the phone before anything is delivered.
Which size fits which job
- 10-yard: garage and basement cleanouts, small bathroom remodels, a single room of flooring, a few cubic yards of concrete or dirt.
- 15-yard: a deck tear-off, a kitchen demo, a big yard cleanup, a one-car garage full of junk.
- 20-yard: whole-room remodels, small roofs, estate cleanouts, fence and shed teardown.
- 30-yard: full-house cleanouts, large roof tear-offs, additions and new-construction framing scrap.
- 40-yard: big demolition, commercial buildouts, apartment turnovers and major renovations.

What is in the price
- Delivery and pickup within our Brazos County service area
- A 7-day rental period
- The tonnage included for your size (see the table)
- Disposal at the landfill up to that weight
What can change it
- Heavy material. Concrete, dirt, brick, tile and roofing are priced on weight, and clean loads of concrete or dirt often have to go in a smaller box and be handled separately.
- Extra days. Past day seven we charge a daily rate, typically $10 to $20 a day in this market. Ask for it when you book.
- Overweight. Anything over the included tons is billed per ton, usually $50 to $100 a ton, and we quote the exact rate before delivery.
- Location. Wellborn, Millican-side routes and out-of-county drops can add mileage.
- Prohibited items. A mattress, tire or appliance with refrigerant may carry a separate fee or be refused. See what you can and cannot throw.
Tip: when two sizes could work, rent the bigger one. The price gap between neighboring sizes is small. The cost of a second haul is not.
Questions people ask
What is the most popular dumpster size?
The 20-yard. It holds a full room demo, a small roof or an estate cleanout and still fits in most driveways.
Is a 15-yard worth it over a 10-yard?
Usually yes if you are on the fence. The jump is about $50 and you get roughly 50 percent more room. People who rent a 10 and run out pay far more for a second haul.
How does weight change the price?
Each size includes a set tonnage. Past that you pay a per-ton overage rate set by the landfill. Concrete, dirt, brick and wet shingles hit the limit long before the box is full.
Can I get a dumpster smaller than 10 yards?
Not usually. For a few bags of trash, a trip to the transfer station or junk pickup costs less. See our dumpster vs. junk removal guide.
